NASA photography techniques

Humans went landed on the Moon 40 years ago on the 20th of July 2009.

There is a page with a bunch of downloadable PDFs detailing NASA’s Photography Techniques, written in 1972. Very interesting reading, in the light of the particular demands placed on photographic equipment by space exploration.

There’s a reason why my Hasselblad 503cx looks an awful lot like the Lunar Data Camera, by the way — a lot of the advances that Hasselblad developed at Nasa’s behest found their way into their commercially available gear. The Lunar Data Camera was basically a modified 500EL. Lots more detail about that camera in particular is to be found here. Again: interesting reading.
